Post-Study Work Opportunities in Australia


Post-study work opportunities in Australia provide international students with the chance to gain valuable work experience in the country after completing their studies. With a valid post-study work visa, the student can bring their immediate family or dependents to the country to stay with them. The cost of applying for a post-study work visa in Australia is AUD 1,730. The duration and eligibility for post-study work visas depend on the level of qualification obtained.


Types of Post-Study Work Visas in Australia


Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) -
This is the most popular type of post-study work visa available for international students who have graduated from a renowned Australian university, regardless of their field of study. For this, the students have to send their application within 6 months of completing their course and the stay duration is between 2 to 4 years. 

Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) - This is a graduate work visa that is specifically for international students who have graduated from a reputed Australian university with skills and qualifications related to occupations specified in the skilled occupation list. To attain this work visa the students must send their applications within 6 months of completing their course and the stay duration is up to 18 months.  

Eligibility to Apply for a Post-Study Work Visa in Australia

  • The applicant must hold a valid Australian student visa and passport and must be above the age of 18. 
  • The applicant must have graduated from a respectable Australian university six months before sending out their work visa application.
  • To be eligible for post-study work opportunities in Australia, individuals must meet the Australia Study requirements, which mandate a minimum of 16 months of stay and study in Australia. 
  • Additionally, they are required to complete a course that encompasses a minimum of 92 weeks of study. This course must be registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
