The Master of Engineering Science is a 1 year program designed for applicants with an approved 4 year bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in engineering.
Undertake a supervised research project relevant to your engineering field. Master of Sustainable Energy

The Master of Sustainable Energy is designed to equip students to address this challenge of developing transition pathways that provide affordable, reliable and sustainable energy. The program aims to provide students with a deeper understanding of energy systems, responsible business practice and ways to address threats of global temperature rise and broader climate change impacts. Interdisciplinary in nature, the MSE is designed to address complex problems across a range of disciplines and equips graduates to progress to leadership and management positions across the energy sector.
As a graduate of the Master of Sustainable Energy you will understand the complex nature of energy generation, distribution, and supply; the crucial roles of finance, technology, and regulation for energy project management and business development; and the critical importance of social license for assessing the dynamic energy landscape. You will develop a deep understanding of risk, innovation, and sustainability - the key drivers of change. Master of Petroleum Engineering

The Master of Petroleum Engineering program covers the technical disciplines associated with the development of conventional and unconventional oil and gas resources. The program combines UQ's world-class reputation in teaching and research with current industry insights to shape you and your fellow students as the next generation of highly skilled professionals that will solve future energy challenges.
This program is taught by world-class industry experts, including guest lectures from current industry representatives and mentoring opportunities with senior technical managers. The program includes a world first field development capstone project to design a plan for development of an unconventional gas resource, opportunities for research projects on real industry problems, and hands on learning experiences with advanced software tools. Classes are taught in intensive teaching blocks that allow students to combine study with employment, and there are opportunities for industry placements.
